Maximizing potential through targeted career and education supports
“This partnership will provide additional support and mentorship for Montgomery College students, helping them navigate a path to success in College and in the workplace,” said Karla Silvestre, Montgomery College’s director of community engagement. “We are so pleased to join Future Link in empowering Montgomery County’s next generation of leaders.”
The Future Link program is designed for young adults, ages 18 to 25, and provides individualized, intensive career and academic support for those who may lack access to resources. Each participant completes a 14-week seminar on self-advocacy, career development, and workforce skills. Students in the program are then connected with a mentor and receive continued educational and career support ranging from scholarships to internships to workshops and everything in between. Their goal is to support students to and through college and career to achieve self-sufficiency.
Montgomery College will support Future Link and its participants in a variety of ways, including but not limited to, providing physical facilities, mentors, and financial aid workshops. The College’s Office of Institutional Research and Analysis will provide course and performance data.
"We are so grateful to Montgomery College for their continued support to Future Link. By working so closely together, we maximize each students' potential and better position them for academic success and towards completion of their desired degree or credential,” said Mindi P. Jacobson, founding executive director of Future Link. “Our success is when the students are successful!"
A signing ceremony took place on August 18 at the Gaithersburg Business Training Center.
